Funny Story

by Emily Henry

RATING: 5/5

In Emily Henry's latest novel, Funny Story, we meet Daphne, whose world turns upside down after her fiancé, Peter, ditches her for his childhood best friend, Petra, right after their bachelor party. Enter Miles, Petra's ex-boyfriend, who becomes Daphne's unexpected new roommate in the aftermath of both shattered relationships. When Peter announces his engagement to Petra, Daphne, in a moment of desperation, lies and tells him she's in a relationship with Miles. The twist? Daphne and Miles are barely acquaintances, and she's eagerly counting down the days to leave town.

What starts as a fake relationship quickly evolves into something much more complex, with plenty of drama and surprising twists that keep you hooked. I found myself unable to put this book down, finishing it within a day of its arrival. Funny Story is, without a doubt, my favorite Emily Henry novel to date. It’s one of those rare reads where I have “no notes” — it was simply perfect from start to finish. If you’re looking for a captivating read that combines humor, romance, and genuine emotion, this book is a must-read.

I’m a cynic, and a cynic is a romantic too scared to hope.
